For many years Mothering Sunday, or Mother's Day as it is now more often known, has been an occasion where children of all ages can recognise the contributions made by their mums over the course of their lives.

Often this takes the form of giving token gifts, such as flowers and chocolates, alongside the traditional Mother's Day cards to say thanks for all the love, support and attention that mums, mother-in-laws and other mother-figures give unconditionally to their loved-ones. 

In the UK, we celebrate Mother's Day on the fourth Sunday of Lent, which this year falls on Sunday 27th March.
